This course will prepare you to referee your first match. It includes online assignments and an in-person field session to get you ready with confidence.
WHAT YOU'LL DO:
- Online Assignments: Learn the Laws of the Game and how to be a match official. Find your assignments under the “Assignments” tab above. Completing them before the field session is highly encouraged.
- In-Person Field Training: A 2-hour session with practical exercises to prepare you for your first game. Arrive 15 minutes early. Details and maps are under the “Meetings with Locations” section.
Important:
✅ You must be at least 13 years old on the day you register.
✅ You must complete all assignments and your field session by 6/29/2026 to get your 2026 referee license.
✅ You are not licensed until all course steps are complete.

IF YOU MISS YOUR FIELD TRAINING SESSION
You can transfer to another upcoming course at no extra cost, and your completed online work will transfer too.
COURSE COMPLETION AND LICENSE DISPLAY
- You will receive an email from U.S. Soccer stating you have completed the course.
- When complete, your license will be in your Learning Center Profile dashboard under Referee History.

regularly for updates from your educators. Make sure your notifications
are turned on in your profile so you don’t miss important information.
